Our achievements in 2008

This year we have continued to succeed in our neighbourhoods and are very proud to have received some great awards, which recognise our hardwork and commitment to developing our business and our communities.

London Excellence Awards

Overall winner - Leadership

July 2008

This award was presented to Gallions Housing Association for exceptional leadership, which is both visionary and inspirational, coupled with the achievement of consistency of purpose throughout the organisation.

The judges comments

"The judges would like to commend Gallions on its clear presentation and synergy within the team, as well as its commitment to its own development. Expectations are consistently driven into the business and the ability to drill down into performance through the performance measurement system appears to have led to significant improvement.

The use of archetypes for self and team reflection has been bravely used to drive improvements and has been used in processes such as recruitment and succession planning.

The archetype approach recognises and acknowledges the value of diversity and the judges would like to encourage Gallions to continue its journey in embedding this into leadership behaviour and business performance."

London Excellence Awards

Overall winner - Making Partnerships Work

July 2008

This award was presented to Gallions Housing Association and Axis for significant achievements through value-added partnerships encompassing their development and maintenance to deliver enhanced business results.

The judges comments

"The judges were impressed that the presentation was mainly conducted by a representative of Axis, as the provider of services in partnership with Gallions. The partnership therefore came across from the start as seamless, with total trust and absolute synergy and the provider partner became the advocate for their relationship.

A clear learning curve was evident, demonstrating that both parties derive significant benefit from the partnership.

The partnership arrangement has led to a clear commitment to the local community; it is unlikely that the links with charities, the involvement of residents in decision making and the provision of local apprentice schemes could have been achieved without this commitment.

Many outcomes achieved go above and beyond the core business and provide significant added value. The judges summed up the reason for success as 'an excellent example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts'."
